High Water Impacting Some Areas of Monroe Lake

Last updated on Monday, April 16, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Due to high water some areas have been temporarily closed around Monroe Lake.

Officials currently anticipate that most of these closures will remain in effect through May 20.

At Paynetown SRA

Stillwater Overlook is closed, as McGowan Road is now inaccessible due to high water. The overlook will reopen once the water drops back below 550.0 (which is 12 feet above normal pool), so it is likely to reopen by late April.

The swimming beaches at Paynetown and Fairfax SRAs, as well as the Paynetown Activity Center, are also inaccessible due to high water - but they do not normally open until Memorial Day Weekend anyway.
