Last updated on Monday, April 30, 2018

(BEDFORD) - Five people shared stories of their struggles and how they turned their life around as they graduated from Lawrence County Superior Court II Problem Solving Court on Thursday morning.

Currently there are 25 active participants in the program.

Lawrence Superior Court II Judge William Sleva and his team oversee and administer Drug Court, a program which offers those who have committed crimes with drugs and or alcohol - a second chance.

The program is an intensive attempt to rehabilitate and reform offenders who have problems with addictions.

Judge Sleva described the program with one word - redemption.

The five graduating the program were: Dennis Davis III, Sarah Taflinger, Julia Jones, Phenoa Riddle and Troy Tincher.

"These five participants have worked very hard during their time in the Problem Solving Court II to turn their lives around," Judge Sleva says. "They have established employment, enrolled in higher education, assumed family responsibilities and actively participated in recovery programs. They display attitudes that make them successful role models for other participants and members of the community."

All five shared their struggles with drugs or alcohol and praised the drug court staff for helping them turning their lives around.
