Family Vacation Ends After Woman Falls from Moving Vehicle

(SULLIVAN CO.) - The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a traffic mishap Monday night after a Texas woman fell out of the back seat of a moving vehicle on US 41.

Police say 23-year-old Madeline Vipperman, of Port Arkansas, Texas, and her husband, were returning home from a vacation when Madeline who was not wearing a seat belt fell from the moving vehicle.

Madeline told police she had been leaning with her back against the back seat door when the door opened.

Police say the SUV had earlier been involved in an accident which damaged the door and its latch.

A Knox County Ambulance came upon Vipperman lying in the roadway and personnel immediately provided first aid.

Madeline suffered abrasions and contusions and was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment.
