Counterfeit $100 Bills Being Passed In Orange And Surrounding Counties

Last updated on Monday, April 2, 2018

(UNDATED) - Indiana State Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Department are warning business owners and residents in Orange and surrounding counties of counterfeit $100 dollar bills.

Over the past several days, the Orange County Sheriff's Department has received reports from West Baden Springs, French Lick, Paoli, Mitchell and Orleans Police Departments of counterfeit $100 bills being passed at various businesses.

Police have a list of four possible suspects who have passed a total of $900, all in $100 dollar bills.

Business owners reported all of the bills passed an ink test, looked authentic in size, but did have a bleached smell and slightly distorted image quality.

Anyone who discovers they are in possession of counterfeit bills, or are able to identify the suspects, are asked to contact Orange County Sheriff's Department.
