City Of Bloomington To Host Second Round Of Public Meetings For Unified Development Ordinance Update

Last updated on Sunday, April 29, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington’s Planning and Transportation Department is in the process of updating the City’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) with a public meeting at the Monroe County Public Library (303 E. Kirkwood Avenue), Room 1B, on Tuesday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m.

At the meeting, members of the public will have the opportunity to ask questions of and share concerns with the consultant team, led by Clarion Associates, and City staff. The UDO is the primary source of land use regulations for the City of Bloomington, including both zoning and subdivision control ordinances. The updated UDO is expected to complement the 2018 Bloomington Comprehensive Plan.

"As we plan for the Bloomington where future generations will continue to thrive, we will take cues from what residents tell us about the way they live and work here now," said Mayor John Hamilton.

The consultant team will also conduct stakeholder meetings April 30 and May 1 at City Hall in the Council Chambers. During this second round of public meetings the consultant team will get input from board and commission members, local business owners, developers, neighborhood associations, and others in order to identify recommended development regulations that need to be added, deleted, or revised to better align the UDO with the Comprehensive Plan objectives.

Feedback from the February UDO kick-off meetings was used to help prepare a detailed diagnosis and annotated outline of the existing UDO. This diagnosis and annotated outline will be the focus of this round of meetings. Information, project updates and meeting materials -- including the diagnosis and annotated outline -- are available at bloomington.in.gov/udo/update. The meetings begin at 3 p.m. on Monday and at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1.

All stakeholder meetings are open to the public.
