Bluegrass Hall of Fame Legend Member of "Darling Family" Rodney Dillard to Perform at Dogwood Festival

Last updated on Tuesday, April 3, 2018

(ORLEANS) - Orleans Dogwood Festival organizers are excited to announce that this year’s 50th Anniversary kick off weekend activities will include a special community event with celebrity guest Bluegrass Hall of Fame Legend and member of the “Darling Family” on The Andy Griffith Show - Rodney Dillard.

The musical program is set for Sunday evening, April 22 beginning at 7 p.m. at Orleans Christian Church's Unity Hall.

The Andy Griffith Show has captured the hearts of Americans since the 1960s. Its emphasis on family values, Christian principals and simply "doing the right thing" made it the most popular show in television history.

Rodney Dillard was one of the beloved "Darling boys" on many episodes. Through the years, he, his brothers, paw and sister Charlene would roll into town on the old truck and fill Mayberry with their mountain bluegrass music and dead pan humor.

Rodney Dillard and his wife Beverly are bringing their wonderfully acclaimed program to the opening weekend activities of the 50th Annual Orleans Dogwood Festival on Sunday, April 22, proclaiming those cherished Mayberry Values that are so rapidly disappearing in our society today. Using humor, stories, testimonies, scriptures, song and video presentations, the Dillards are able to touch and inspire families and individuals of all ages. As they say in Mayberry, lets get "all keyed up" - this time for the Lord.

The program is free; however a free-will offering will be received and everyone is welcome to attend.
