(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police are investigating an incident where a 21-year-old man was assaulted by two men who shoved him into a fire pit causing the man to suffer burns to his hands. The incident happened in the 300 block of East 12th Street at 4:47 a.m. Friday.

Police were alerted to the incident after a call from IU Health Bloomington Hospital health staff early Saturday morning. The victim was transferred to a burn unit for treatment.

The injured man told officers the two intoxicated men were walking past his yard where he was hosting friends. One of the men stumbled falling and members of the victim's party laughed.

The men came into the yard and began pushing and shoving people. The victim confronted one of the men, who then pushed him backward causing the victim to spin around and fall. He put his hands down to break his fall and his hands went into the fire. The two men then fled the scene.

The victim rushed inside his home and ran cold water over the burns.

Police are looking for the man who pushed the victim. He is described as a white man, about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds with muscular build and long blond hair.
