Best-Selling Author Beverly Lewis To Visit Bedford, French Lick

Last updated on Thursday, April 5, 2018

(BEDFORD) - Best-selling and award-winning author Beverly Lewis, whose fictional Amish tales have captivated readers throughout the world, will visit southern Indiana.

Lewis will be in Bedford at 7 p.m. Friday at the Primitive Porch Christian Bookstore, 7956 State Road 37, and she will greet readers at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Springs Valley High School auditorium in French Lick.

The visits to southern Indiana are a part of her biannual book tour and will be used to promote her latest release, "The Road Home," which is partially set in Michigan and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. According to a press release, it is a stand-alone novel that features the story of Lena Rose Schwartz who, while grieving the death of her Amish parents and the separation from her nine close-knit siblings, consoles herself in knowing that her new life in Lancaster County won't be forever. Surely one day she will return to her beloved Michigan settlement and her beau. But even as she holds on to hope for a reunion with those she loves most, she discovers that Lancaster holds charms of its own.

Lewis said her biannual tour is a highlight of her work as a novelist: "It's always a pleasure to meet with readers face-to-face, and an encouragement to this author's heart." Her tour includes 23 stops at bookstores and libraries.

The events include a discussion time with Lewis, and she will sign books, which are available for purchase at both the Primitive Porch and Melton Public Library in French Lick. During the Bedford event, refreshments from the author's Amish Heritage Cookbook will be served.

Lewis has nearly 20 million copies of her books in print. The Lancaster native started writing short stories at the age of 9 and began writing short stories and children's books when her children were in middle school. Her first venture into adult fiction started with The Heritage of Lancaster County series, which is a trilogy that includes "The Shunning." She has now written more than 80 books -- many of which have appeared on both The New York Times and USA Today best-sellers lists.
