Last updated on Sunday, March 4, 2018

(WORTHINGTON) - A Worthington woman was arrested after she allegedly broke into several vehicles on Linton Stockton School Corporation property while intoxicated.

Linton Police arrested 28-year-old Justine Gardner on felony charges of attempted robbery, two misdemeanor counts of battery, and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on Feb. 26th police were called to First Street near Linton Stockton High School after a report of a woman lying in the roadway. When police arrived they found Gardner sitting in an ambulance.

Police say she was impaired and being uncooperative but refused medical attention. Her mother was called to pick her up.

While waiting for her mother, Gardner told police she had smoked marijuana and meth before walking to the school. She says her mother would pick her up and transport her to a rehabilitation facility.

Gardner was told by police she was no longer allowed on school property and if she returned she would be arrested for trespassing.

While police waited for Gardner's mother to arrive, Gardner allegedly laid on the sidewalk and prayed out loud. She then suddenly got up and ran to the teacher's parking lot behind the school. Police followed and found Gardner laying on the ground after she attempted to forcibly pull a driver out of their vehicle. A child in the vehicle exited and called 911. Gardner allegedly sat in the motorist's lap and attempted to step on the gas pedal. The driver forced down the brake. Two bystanders attempted to pull Gardner out of the vehicle and failed. A third then removed Gardner from the vehicle and placed her on the ground.

Gardner then ran to a white van, opened the door and attempted to pull the driver out. But the driver continued to drive preventing Gardner entering the vehicle.

Gardner told police she attempted to break into two vehicles to obtain a Bible.

Gardner was arrested and taken to Greene County General Hospital for a medical evaluation. She was taken to the Greene County Jail where she is being held on a $32,000 bond with 10 percent allowed.
