Woman Arrested Again After Accosting Teen

Last updated on Sunday, March 11, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - A woman was arrested again after she accosted a 18-year-old female and demanded money.

29-year-old Tarea A. Hutchins was arrested Thursday on preliminary charges of robbery, criminal confinement, battery and panhandling. Police say this is the second time in nine days she has been arrested.

The teen told police she was robbed while shopping at the College Mall Kroger, Wednesday. The teen told police she was approached by Hutchins at the self-checkout around 11 p.m. wanting money to pay for a cab. The teen gave Hutchins $2, but Hutchins told her that wasn't enough, but the teen refused to give her more. That is when Hutchins became physical, so the teen gave her $5. The teen then fought free, but Hutchins was able to grab another $10 from the teen and left the store.

Hutchins was arrested Thursday afternoon, and booked into the Monroe County Correctional Center

Police say this is not the first time Hutchins accosted someone for money. On Feb. 10th, Hutchins forced one woman to give her a ride before knocking her to the ground and stole another woman's ATM card after withdrawing $40 on Feb. 21.
