(SEYMOUR) - On Tuesday morning, Rose Acre Farms, the nation’s second-largest egg producer, announced that it has helped serve an estimated one-million needy families with its donation today of 3,600 dozen eggs to St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry in Indianapolis.
Making eggs available to deserving families through Indiana's HATCH for Hunger program has long been a mission for Rose Acre, a Seymour egg farm operated by a family whose roots go back to the 1930's.
"Eggs are a great source of protein and essential vitamins that can improve brain function," said Tony Wesner, Chief Operating Officer. "Two eggs have half the protein a child needs each day. At Rose Acre Farms we pride ourselves on the small-town values of quality and community service that remain at the heart of everything we do."
Families shopped at St. Vincent de Paul's Food Pantry today for Rose Acre Farms eggs and other food items.
