Plato's Closet Presents 2018 Trashion/Refashion Show April 8

Last updated on Monday, March 26, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - The 9th annual Trashion/ReFashion Runway Show presented by Plato’s Closet is scheduled for Sunday, April 8, at 7 p.m. at Buskirk-Chumley Theater, at 114 E Kirkwood Ave. in Bloomington.

This show is a fundraiser for the Center for Sustainable Living.

The Trashion ReFashion organizers seek to promote sustainability by presenting a thought provoking show that challenges beliefs and behaviors about the role clothing plays in our lives.

Local designers from a broad range of ages and backgrounds will show 80 designs on the runway.

The show is divided into 2 categories: Trashion and Refashion. All designs need to consist of at least 90 percent refashioned or discarded materials. Trashion designs are produced using waste materials other than fabric. Past years' shows included outfits constructed from yoga balls, cat food can lids, video tape, venetian blinds, and shrink wrap. Refashion designs give new life to unworn or discarded garments including commemorative t-shirts, graduation gowns and neckties.

Come out for a serious night of fun and fabulous fashion. There will be live entertainments by the percussive dance team Fiddle 'n' Feet. Also, Trashion Off! is back by popular demand.

Two teams will compete to convert a pile of trash into fashion for the runway. The audience will decide the winner.

This all-ages event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased at the BCT Box Office https://web.ovationtix.com/trs/pe.c/10246053 and at Plato's Closet 1145 S College Mall Rd,
Bloomington, IN 47401 where you can get some gently used fashion to wear to the show.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and $10 for students and those under 18.
