Pets Die In Ellettsville House Fire

Last updated on Sunday, March 4, 2018

(ELLETTSVILLE) - A pet raccoon and five dogs were the only casualties of a house fire in Ellettsville on Saturday.

The Ellettsville Fire Department and Van Buren Township Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 2998 N. Andy Way.

Ellettsville Fire Chief Mike Cornman told the Herald Times that when first responders arrived, the homeowner was outside, attempting to put the fire out. Cornman said this was an extra-alarm fire because of an unusual amount of debris in the home.

Cornman said the crews were able to put out the flames, but the residence was a total loss. He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
