Limestone Post Magazine Announces First Print Edition

Last updated on Thursday, March 8, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Limestone Post Magazine is planning to publish its first print edition, a commemorative art magazine for Bloomington’s and Monroe County’s bicentennials.

Available this May, Limestone Post's A Sense of Place: Calling Bloomington Home for 200 Years will showcase Bloomington's creative talent while paying tribute to its history.

Limestone Post's Marketing & Advertising Director Emily Winters describes the art magazine as "a patchwork of the community," featuring in-depth articles paired with illustrations, photography, recipes, creative writing, and other artwork reflecting on how Bloomington has grown and changed over the years, "as well as what it means to be connected to a specific place," she says.

Although this is the first print edition for Limestone Post, an independent, online-only magazine that features long-form stories on the arts, outdoors, and social issues, among other topics, Winters says the timing was right for a print version.

"We are so excited to bring our readers something tactile, something that not only showcases different perspectives about this place we call home but is also a work of art in itself," Winters says. "We've long considered some kind of print version to complement our in-depth online content and to give our readers something to hold on to. And the bicentennial gave us the perfect reason."

The art magazine -- designed in Bloomington by AJ O'Reilly of Felt Creative and printed by World Arts Printing in Spencer -- will be 100-pages, perfect-bound, full-color, and non-glossy. Limestone Post's A Sense of Place will be available for purchase in May at limestonepost.com, as well as for sale at local businesses and during various events throughout the year.

Release Party and Art Exhibit

Limestone Post is hosting a release party and art exhibit to celebrate the print edition at the I Fell Building during Gallery Walk on the evening of June 1. This event will showcase the contributors featured in the print edition and will be free and open to the public.
