Last updated on Wednesday, March 7, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - The identity of a woman killed in a fatal house fire in the 5600 block of South Handy Road has been released.

Detectives says the body of 85-year-old Leare Brittain Moeller Bush of Palm Desert, California was found inside the charred remains of the 733-square-foot studio the afternoon of Feb. 10.

A man was also injured in the fire

Firefighters from Perry-Clear Creek and Van Buren Volunteer Fire Departments were called to the blaze at 11:29 a.m. that Saturday.

When firefighters arrived they found the home engulfed in flames.

Perry-Clear Creek Fire Chief Dustin Dillard says, firefighters didn't attempt to enter the home because of safety issues.

They were able to knock down the fire quickly.

The injured man, whose name has not been released, was able to escape the blaze, but suffered burns to his face and hands. He was taken by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment.

Firefighters and investigators from the Indiana State Fire Marshal's office and the Monroe County Fire Investigation Task Force are investigating the cause of the blaze.
