Huntingburg Man Arrested After Crashing Into Utility Pole

(HUNTINGBURG) - A Huntingburg man was arrested after he crashed his pickup truck into a utility pole Tuesday evening.

Just before 10 p.m. Huntingburg City Police responded to an accident that occurred along North Van Buren Street.

A 2005 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by 25-year-old Drake Neal of Huntingburg was traveling north in the 700 block of North Van Buren when his truck left the roadway, struck a utility pole, breaking the pole. Neal then traveled into an alleyway, sideswiped a second pole a and then an air conditioning unit. The truck continued eastbound in the alley finally stopping in a ditch.

Neal was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI endangerment, operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance, criminal recklessness, reckless drive and leaving the scene of an accident.

Huntingburg Police were assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, Huntingburg Fire Department, Memorial EMS, Huntingburg Utilities and KARS towing.
