City Of Bedford To Purchase New Camera And Van For Sewer Repairs

Last updated on Monday, March 19, 2018

(BEDFORD) - On Friday, the Bedford Board of Works and Safety approved the purchase of a new camera and van combination for the sewer department.

Utilities Director Misty Adams says the camera would allow the city to meet environmental standards set by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. The systems will also allow crews to make repairs. Various sizes of piping can be attached to the camera and put in place and an air compressor will help attach the patches in place.

The department has a camera systems they use in a 2011 van, but the new system is a higher tech camera and monitor system and is being built by a Pennsylvania company to meet the department's specific needs.

The camera system will be placed in a 16-foot box on a Ford F-550, 4-wheel drive vehicle. The cost of the camera and van is $383,869.

The department will keep the old system as a backup and use it on repairs when two cameras are needed at the same time.
