Body Found In Burning Truck Identified

Last updated on Tuesday, March 27, 2018

(MEROM) - The Sullivan County Coroner has identified a body found over the weekend in a burning pick-up truck as 20-year-old Mitchell Ridge of Sullivan.

Ridge was killed in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning on South Third Street in Merom near the Merom Cemetery.

Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom says Ridge was driving south on Third Street in Merom near the cemetery when he lost control of his pick-up truck on a curve and ran off the road.

The vehicle then traveled across a grass field and caught fire.

Although the official cause of Ridge's death is pending toxicology tests, it has been ruled accidental.
