(BLOOMINGTON) - A methadone clinic that will serve 500 to 1,000 addicts every day is set to open by the end of June in Bloomington.

Limestone Health will be located at 100 South Liberty Drive near the intersection of State Road 45 and Bloomfield Road. The building once housed Show-Me's restaurant.

The state announced back in July that Monroe County will be one of five counties where medication-assisted treatment facilities will open in 2018. The treatment center will be led by Limestone Health, an entity of Sycamore Springs.

The clinic will offer medical assessment, counseling and daily doses of methadone to people addicted to heroin and other opioid-based drugs.

Limestone Health plans to accept payments from Medicaid and private insurance. Individual and group therapy will be required for all patients receiving medication-assisted treatment. Patients will also receive support they need to access services to support them with other aspects of their lives.
