Bedford Police arrested 30-year-old Joshua Hackney of Bedford on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor less than 16 years old in addition to strangulation charges.
According to a Lawrence County Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, the female victim told police Hackney allegedly placed her in a headlock, punched her in the face and bit her on the arm and back.
Police say the female suffered a swollen eye and various cuts to her face and body.
On Tuesday, the court entered a not guilty plea on Hackney's behalf and set the matter for omnibus pretrial conference for April 18th at 1 p.m. Indigent counsel was appointed to Hackney at the county's expense.
