Vallonia Man Sentenced To 16 Years In Prison For Child Molesting

Last updated on Sunday, February 25, 2018

(SALEM) - Grady Harold Styles was sentenced Friday to 16 years in prison on a charge of child molesting.

In late December, 58-year-old Styles of Vallonia pled guilty to a level 3 felony charge of child molestation.

Judge Larry Medlock sentenced him to 16 years with the Indiana Department of Corrections, with four years suspended. By law, 16 years is the maximum sentence for a Level 3 felony child molestation offense.

Judge Medlock says Styles will spend the next nine years in prison and the rest on probation with monitoring. Should he violate those terms, he will be sent back to prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

Indiana State Police arrested Styles at his cabin at 2929 Cabin Site Lane on December 9, 2016.

According to a press released, around November 1, 2016, when the then five-year-old victim told the Indiana Division of Family and Children about the incident.

Indiana State Police Detective Bill Wibbels was assigned the case and after investigating the case with the assistance of the Indiana Division of Family and Children was able to gather enough facts to file for an arrest warrant out of the Washington County Circuit Court.
