(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police arrested two Fairview Elementary students Saturday after threats against other students were posted on social media.
According to a press release, the two juveniles are facing charges of intimidation and are being held at Southwest Indiana Regional Youth Village in Knox County.
Police also arrested two adults and a 17-year-old male.
On Saturday, a Fairview Elementary School representative called Bloomington police about a photo posted on Instagram. The photo showed the two students, ages 11 and 12, holding what looked like firearms. A video depicted one of the boys making threats toward a female student and her brother, reportedly over a dating relationship.
In the video, police say the boy "appeared angry and agitated, indicating that the weapon, an AK-47-type weapon, was real." He reportedly threatened the girl and her brother they were -"going to get lit up."
Detectives went and spoke to both the boys involved in the threats. One provided a statement, the other child's parents refused to allow the child to speak to police.
Detectives secured a search warrant and determined the weapons were an assault-style BB gun and two pistol-style BB guns.
While at the home in the 100 block of South Park Ridge Road, police removed a 17-year-old male after he reportedly told officers they weren't going to touch him. When officers confronted him, they said, he began resisting and was arrested and handcuffed. When placed in a patrol vehicle, he reportedly attempted to kick out a rear window and threatened to kill the officer monitoring him. He is facing charges of intimidation, resisting law enforcement. He had previously been waived to adult court on an armed robbery and burglary charges in Dec. 2-16 and was on probation at the time of this arrest.
At that time 33-year-old Laquita Perry-Leverston became upset because her child was being arrested as did 37-year-old Paris Leverston. Both adults continued to be loud and disruptive with police and were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest
