(PEERLESS) - Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Peerless Road on Thursday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 21-year-old Athena Hanner was traveling northwest on Peerless Road in a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, just west of the Peerless Quarry Road when she entered a curve and lost control of the car on the lightly snow covered road.

The car began to slide, a slide that Hanner could not steer out of. The car went off the northside of the road and struck a tree.

Police say the vehicle's front airbags deployed.

Hanner suffered facial abrasions, but refused medical treatment at the scene, but went by personnel vehicle to IU Health Hospital for treatment.

Her front seat passenger, 19-year-old Natalie Todd, complained of pain to her head and neck was transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment.
