Salem Man Arrested On Sexual Misconduct Charges

(SALEM) - An Indiana State Police detective from the Sellersburg post arrested a Salem man Tuesday morning on two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

22-year-old Ryan Andrew Allen was arrested after a joint investigation between State Police and The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.

Allen was arrested after a the parents of a 14-year-old contacted police on Saturday, Feb. 10, saying their daughter was missing. The girl returned home on Sunday, Feb. 11. Police say Allen allegedly made arrangements to meet the girl via Facebook and picked up the girl Saturday in Bartholomew County and took her to his home in Salem where she spent the night. He then returned her home Sunday.

Upon her return, the family contacted the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office, who worked with ISP detectives in Washington County to investigate.

Allen told police he knew the girl was only 14.

Allen was incarcerated at the Washington County Jail awaiting his first court appearance.
