Multiple Restrictions And Reconfigurations For The Week Of Feb. 19

Last updated on Sunday, February 18, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Warmer temperatures and favorable weather conditions are allowing work to continue and accelerate throughout the I-69 Section 5 construction zone. Beginning Monday the following areas will be impacted by construction activities:

The right lane of southbound State Road 37 from Tapp Road to Fullerton Pike will be closed for sound wall construction. The right lane closure is anticipated to last all week.

The right lane of the southbound State Road 37 exit ramp to westbound State Road 45 to Liberty Drive will be closed for the installation of lighting foundations and cable ducts, and the erection of new light poles. This lane closure is anticipated to be in place for the entire week.

Work will continue on the 3rd Street Bridge (State Road 48) with current lane restrictions in place. Beginning tomorrow, the right turn lane from Gates Drive to eastbound 3rd Street will be closed for light pole relocations, wall removal and excavation for intersection improvements.

There will be restrictions all week on the north east ramp segment of State Road 46 for drainage basin excavation and interchange improvements. Traffic turning left from eastbound State Road 46 to northbound State Road 37 will be restricted. The on ramp from State Road 46 to northbound State Road 37 will be placed into a YIELD condition with appropriate signage. Motorists should exercise caution when entering northbound State Road 37 from State Road 46 and remember that yield means "stop" until it is safe to proceed.

On Monday the right lane of northbound State Road 37 will be closed from the Kinser Pike Overpass to Connaught Road for median survey work. This restriction will be in place for one day.

On Monday night only at Chambers Pike there will be intermittent 20 minute closures of southbound State Road 37 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to reset the barrier wall that is already in place. This work will be done after peak travel times, and law enforcement will be onsite to assist with traffic control. After resetting the barrier wall, the right lane restriction of southbound State Road 37 will remain in place at Chambers Pike for continuing bridge construction.

The right lane of northbound State Road 37 from Bryant's Creek to Paragon Road will be closed for clearing, drainage improvements and slope work. The lane closure is anticipated to be in place for the entire week.

All work is weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change. Motorists should be aware of changing traffic conditions throughout the construction zone and always adhere to the posted 45 mile per hour speed limit. Some ramps entering mainline SR 37 are still under construction and signed as YIELD points, which means motorists should exercise caution and, if necessary, come to a complete stop until traffic clears and it is safe to enter the roadway.
