Man Found Guilty In Huntingburg Rape Case

(DUBOIS CO.) - A man arrested in 2016 for multiple rapes of a female teen in Huntingburg was found guilty of 12 of the 15 charges he originally faced.

The Dubois County Free Press, reports after a short deliberation Friday afternoon, the jury found 44-year-old Roger Salinas, also known as Jose Ramon Aponte-Rolon, guilty of two Class B felony counts of rape, a Level 1 felony count of rape, two Level 3 felony counts of rape, two counts of Class B felony sexual misconduct with a minor, two Class D felony counts of criminal confinement, a Level 3 felony count of criminal confinement, a Level 5 felony count of criminal confinement, a Level 6 felony count of criminal confinement and a Class A misdemeanor count of battery resulting in bodily injury.

Salinas is set to be sentenced in the Dubois County Circuit Court on March 14 at 9 a.m.

Salinas was arrested after police and the Department of Child Services launched an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and the rape of a minor.

According to court documents, Salinas repeatedly over a period of time forced himself on a 15-year-old girl and raped her. He was able to keep the girl silent by threatening to kill her and her family.

Salinas then fled the state with the girl. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was captured by U.S. Marshals in Spokane, Washington.
