Last updated on Tuesday, February 20, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Kathleen Hall Jamieson, a leading expert on political communication and news coverage of political candidates, campaigns and elections, will present Patten Lectures at Indiana University Bloomington on Feb. 27 and March 1.

Jamieson is the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication at the Annenberg School for Communication and the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania.

Both lectures will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Presidents Hall in Franklin Hall. Topics will include:

Feb. 27 -- "Recognizing and Debunking Political Deception and Viral Deception." Jamieson will define viral deception, explain why it is powerful and problematic, and examine ways to prevent its spread and blunt its influence.

She is the author or co-author of 15 books, including "Packaging the Presidency," "Eloquence in an Electronic Age," "Spiral of Cynicism," "Presidents Creating the Presidency" and "The Obama Victory: How Media, Money and Message Shaped the 2008 Election."
