(ROLAND) - A Louisville man suffered serious injuries after an unsecured load in the semi-tractor trailer he was driving shifted causing it to roll on its side on US 150.

According to an Indiana State Police report, the accident happened in the Singing Hill area of US 150, just north of Roland at 4:36 p.m.

Police say that the driver, 56-year-old Jeffrey Laine, was driving a 2016 Peterbilt semi pulling a box trailer loaded with skids of bricks southbound on US 150. As the Peterbilt traveled around the curves of the highway, the unsecured load shifted and caused the tractor trailer to turn on the driver's side.

The accident blocked both lanes of traffic.

Laine was transported from the scene by IU Health Ambulance Service and then airlifted to the University of Louisville for treatment.

US 150 was closed for four hours while Storks Service Center of Jasper uprighted the semi and cleared the debris from the road.

Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is investigating the crash and conducting a post-crash inspection.

The semi-tractor is owned by NRW, Inc from Louisville and was being operated by Tom Wantye Trucking LLC, Mt. Washington, KY.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Orange and Martin County Sheriff's Departments, Lost River, Shoals and Orange County Rural District 1 Volunteer Fire Departments, and ambulance crews from IU Health and Martin County Alert 1.
