Last updated on Wednesday, February 21, 2018

(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus High School student has been arrested after police say he threatened violence against Columbus East High School.

High School officials sent out an alert at 2:09 p.m. Tuesday that the threat was made in a group Snapchat post. That post was subsequently reported by other students.

Parents with students at the high school began showing up to pick up their children after the threat became known on Tuesday afternoon.

School officials say the student responsible for making the threat was "identified and isolated."

The Columbus Police Department was called and Lt. Matt Harris, department spokesman says, the unidentified juvenile was taken into custody at the school and is being held at the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center. Harris says the suspect is facing a preliminary charge of Intimidation, a Level 6 felony.

Columbus police are still investigating the incident.
