Bloomington Hospital Foundation Announces New Name And Broadening Of Mission

Last updated on Thursday, February 8, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - After operating solely as the philanthropic agent of IU Health Bloomington Hospital for 50 years, the Bloomington Hospital Foundation, in response to the changing local healthcare landscape, announces a change in name and a broadening of its purpose.

The newly named Bloomington Health Foundation will continue to partner with the Hospital, though its new scope will also include investment and partnership with the people and organizations of this community to implement innovative and evidence-based solutions to our community's most pressing health needs.

"For 50 years, the leadership of and donors to the Foundation have been steadfast in their support of our local Hospital. As the Foundation moves forward, this partnership remains part of our local commitment," said Angela Parker, Board of Directors Chair. "My colleagues on the Board of Directors are owed an incredible debt of gratitude for their courage and conviction in charting this new path that remains locally governed and operated."

Founded in 1967, the Bloomington Health Foundation is Bloomington's original healthcare not-for-profit and continues to be headed by President & CEO Jonathan Barada. While its new purpose will expand to include a wide array of health-centric initiatives in the greater Bloomington area, all past and future donations will remain designated in support of their original, local intent.

"The Bloomington Health Foundation is committed to helping the people of Bloomington and surrounding communities lead healthier lives. There is no greater investment made than one made in the health and well-being of a community," Barada said. "It impacts everyone: healthy kids do better in school, a healthy workforce provides economic strength, a community that supports the health of its seniors improves their quality of life, increased access to rural health services relieves healthcare disparities - and the list goes on. There is no greater cause."

In addition to Barada, the Foundation continues to be served by Karin St. John (Vice President and Chief Development Officer), Heather Robinson (Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance and Operations), Sarah Bock (Director of Donor Relations) and Lauren Dexter (Director of Marketing and Events).
