(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested 13 people during a drug-dealing investigation that began in September.

Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams says many of those arrested are transporting the drugs from the Chicago area.

Capt. Kellams says officers secured warrants and searched five homes after undercover officers and confidential informants carried out controlled buys of drugs while detectives conducted surveillance.

The warrants were all for locations in Bloomington. These locations included 1506 W. 11th St., 1297 N. Maple St., 4228 W. Cherry Orchard Court, 3210 W. Tapp Road and 1420 N. Arlington Park Drive.

Members of the Indiana State Police, Ellettsville Police Department, Drug Enforcement Agency and U.S. Marshals Service assisted Bloomington police in serving the warrants.

Police seized three handguns, one shotgun and one rifle, one stolen handgun and one stolen motorcycle during the investigation in addition to small amounts of heroin, cocaine and meth.

There are warrants out for the arrest of five more Bloomington residents in relation to the ring.
