Last updated on Wednesday, February 21, 2018

(ORLEANS) - Politicians analyzed a variety of statewide issues with their constituents last Saturday morning at Orleans Town Hall.

State Sen. Erin Houchin and State Reps. Steve Davisson and Stephen Bartels discussed a variety of issues being addressed during the present short session of the Indiana General Assembly.

Some of the items discussed during the forum included the opioid epidemic, the merging of the trustee townships across the state, Broadband expansion and workforce development.

Constituents also commented on the real and present need of good paying jobs or living wage for Orange County residents. A need of affordable type housing was also brought up as being major priority throughout the county, which is severely in short supply.

The Indiana General Assembly reconvened in January and will conclude in mid-March.

Robert F. Henderson, Orleans Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, moderated the Third House session which is a joint effort of the three Orange County Chambers French Lick/West Baden, Paoli and Orleans.

A second one is scheduled for mid to late April which will serve as a wrap up summary of the 2018 Legislative session.
