(GREENE CO.) - A traffic stop on Dec. 28 lead to the discovery of prescription fraud and the arrest of the driver.

Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Klun, a member of the ISP Bloomington District A.C.E.S. team, was on patrol along I-69 in Greene County when he stopped a vehicle for speeding.

During the stop, Trooper Klun discovered the driver, 24-year-old Ryan Mahone, of Indianapolis, had a suspended driver's license. He also detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, police found marijuana and a locked safe.

Mahone was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and for driving with a suspended driver's license and was taken to the Greene County Jail.

A search warrant was obtained for the safe and once open police found several forged prescriptions and items believed to be used to produce and sell a look alike substance known as "Purple Drank". "Purple Drank" is a slang term for a concoction which includes a prescription-strength cough syrup used in a manner inconsistent with its labeling, thus making it a recreational drug.

Mahone was then charged with prescription fraud and maintaining a common nuisance.

Anyone with information on illegal drug activity is encouraged to call the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post at (812) 332-4411.
