(PAOLI) - Indiana State Police arrested three teens - a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds - for allegedly threatening to cause harm at Paoli schools.

The threats were made Thursday on social media and resulted in the closings of Paoli schools on Friday for safety reasons.

All three were taken into custody Monday afternoon in Paoli, and taken to a juvenile detention center.

Each juvenile is being charged with Intimidation, a Level 6 Felony.

Police aren't saying how they determined the teens were involved in the threats, but caution others that such messages will be taken seriously.

"Engaging in communication of 'anonymous' threats can have lifelong consequences for people arrested and prosecuted for such times," State Police say in a press release. "And as demonstrated by this investigation, nothing on the Internet is ever truly 'anonymous.'"
