Springville Man Arrested After Police Find Guns, Drugs, Cash

(MITCHELL) - A Springville man was arrested Saturday after Mitchell Police found drugs and weapons in his vehicle.

Police arrested 24-year-old John Bunch after a Mitchell Police officer found Bunch slumped over in a vehicle at Stevens Lane and State Road 37 on Saturday morning.

When the officer approached the vehicle he noticed a plastic bag with a white substance inside it on the ground outside of the vehicle. The officer found Bunch with another plastic bag which he admitted contained meth. He also told police there was a bag of marijuana in a lunch box in the car in addition to a handgun. Bunch confessed to throwing the bag of meth out of the vehicle when he noticed the officer approaching the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle police found an AK-47 with 150 rounds of ammunition, $1,200 in cash and drug paraphernalia and other medications that Bunch told police he was dealing.

Bunch was arrested on charges of possession of meth, dealing in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance with an enhancing circumstance and maintaining a common nuisance. He also was arrested at the time for possessing a handgun without a permit.
