Sellersburg Man Arrested after Pursuit, Police Find Drugs, Gun

(SELLERSBURG) - A Sellersburg man was arrested on Thursday night after leading police on a pursuit on Interstate 65.

Indiana State Trooper Rob Caudill was patrolling around 8:30 p.m. going northbound on I-65 near the Scott/Clark county line when he noticed a red Mazada Miata in front of him drive off the roadway into the median and spin out of control.

The car then returned to the interstate and the trooper activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the driver. The driver refused to stop and increased his speed.

The pursuit continued north to Exit 29, (Scottsburg), where the driver took the exit and went east on State Road 56. After pursuing the driver through several intersections and local streets, the driver went down a dead end road and attempted to turn around in a residential yard and crashed into a tree causing the vehicle to come to a stop.

The driver then fled on foot, but was shortly apprehended by trooper Caudill after deploying his Taser.

After the driver, 39-year-old Jason Michael Baker, of Sellersburg was arrested. During a search of his vehicle police found meth, heroin, marijuana and other controlled substances. They also found two guns and an AR-15 and an air gun.

Baker is facing charges of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, dealing in a controlled substance, possession of meth, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving and driving with a suspended driver's license. He was also wanted on a parole warrant.

He was incarcerated at the Scott County Jail.

This investigation is continuing.
