Last updated on Wednesday, January 3, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents about a jury scam.

The department has receiving numerous reports of someone impersonating a member of the department who is calling individuals and claiming they missed jury duty.

This impersonator then requests a payment from the individual to avoid jail time.

Sheriff Brad Swain says deputies and detectives do not call to collect money from individuals.

If you receive this call it is a scam.
