Mitchell Man Injured In Accident

Last updated on Monday, January 29, 2018

(BEDFORD) - A Mitchell man was injured after he lost control of his 2009 Ford F-250 at the intersection of M and 18th streets on Saturday afternoon.

According to a Bedford Police report, 32-year-old Cory Rayhill couldn't remember what happened at the time of the crash.

Police say two witnesses who were traveling south on M Street passed Rayhill at the intersection of 18th Street driving in the opposite direction at a high-rate of speed.

The truck crossed over into the southbound lane, left the roadway and struck an electric pole. A 2013 Hyundai Elantra, owned by Ashley Bailey, was parked in a driveway at 1811 M Street. The truck hit the vehicle and the impact pushed the car into an air conditioning unit and house.

The witnesses told police it looked like Rayhill was attempting to turn into the alley but was traveling too fast to do so.

Rayhill complained of shoulder pain and may have suffered a broken collar bone. He was taken by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to the hospital for treatment.
