(BLOOMINGTON) - Middle Way House announces their Rise and Shine Childcare Program has been awarded national accreditation from the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC).

In order to receive this distinction, providers must meet stringent eligibility requirements and quality standards across all aspects of their program. These include areas such as relationships, the environment, developmental learning activities, safety and health, and professional business practices.

"While the path to accreditation was demanding, I remained motivated by my conviction that all families and children deserve access to high-quality, affordable childcare," said Marcella Ettinger, Childcare Coordinator for Middle Way House. "Providing children who have experienced trauma at a young age with excellent educational experiences in an emotionally supportive environment is essential to helping break the cycle of violence" said Ettinger.

In October both Rise and Shine Childcare classrooms went through their annual Paths to Quality renewal rating and will retain their level 3 designation for 2018. This quality rating, combined with national accreditation, will enhance Middle Way House's eligibility for grant funding opportunities to help them continue to provide these quality childcare services to families experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, and human trafficking.

"I am so proud of Marcella and her staff for their hard work and dedication in achieving national accreditation," said Debra Morrow, Executive Director of Middle Way House. "Survivors affected by violence face many barriers to leaving an abusive situation, including access to quality childcare, which makes it vital that our organization continue to address this issue through access to educational experiences in a safe, nurturing environment," said Morrow.
