Former Monroe Circuit Court Judge Christine Talley Haseman Announces Candidacy

(BLOOMINGTON) - Former Monroe Circuit Court Judge Christine Talley Haseman announces her candidacy for Monroe Circuit Court Judge, Seat 2, the seat being vacated by The Honorable Marc Kellams.

"I had the honor of serving on the Board of Judges in 2008 with each of the judges that are retiring this year and I learned a great deal from working with each of them. My goal is to return to the bench and put my judicial experience back to work for Monroe County," Talley Haseman stated in her announcement.

She is seeking the nomination in the May 8 Democratic primary.

Talley Haseman's judicial experience includes having served as a Monroe County Circuit Court Judge; a Hearing Officer for the Indiana Supreme Court; a Judge Pro Tempore in Monroe, Owen, Lawrence, and Greene Counties; and a Juvenile Referee. She has presided over civil matters, including attorney disciplinary hearings, CHINS (child abuse and neglect), Termination of Parental Rights, divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, parenting time, guardianship, protective order, and small claims cases. In addition, Talley Haseman has presided over criminal matters, including initial, bond reduction, pre-trial conferences, change of plea, and sentencing hearings.

An experienced deputy prosecutor, Talley Haseman prosecuted both felonies and misdemeanors. She served as an integral part of the team that successfully prosecuted Susan May for the murder of her boyfriend. Talley Haseman also has experience representing defendants in criminal cases, having served as a public defender in criminal matters.

In her private practice, Talley Haseman has represented clients in a variety of civil cases. She is perhaps best known for representing children in legal proceedings, having represented over 200 children thus far.

Talley Haseman serves as a volunteer attorney for the Monroe County CASA program. Talley Haseman also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance for Mental Illness - Greater Bloomington Area, advocating for individuals with mental illness.
