Fireplace Blamed For Causing House Fire On Dittemore Road

(BLOOMINGTON) - Northern Monroe County Fire Protection Territory were on the scene of a house fire for more than two hours Sunday night in the 1200 block of Dittemore Road.

A fireplace was deemed the source of the blaze.

Firefighters were on the scene within 15 minutes and discovered smoke coming from the porch. They also found that the floors of the home were warm.

"As firefighters entered the residence, they found smoke and heat coming up through the floors," according to the release from Jason Allen, public information officer. "Firefighters deployed two hose lines to extinguish the fire. Units remained on scene to complete salvage and overhaul before clearing the scene."

No injuries were reported.
