Fatal Fire In Sullivan County Remains Under Investigation

(SULLIVAN CO.) - The investigation continues today into a fatal fire in Sullivan County.

Firefighters were called to the 5900 block of East Private Road 375 North shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting from the home.

Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom says one person, believed to be an adult male, died in the blaze. Authorities will release his name at a later date, pending an autopsy and positive identification.

A family dog also perished in the fire.

Cottom says foul play is not suspected at this time.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal has been on the scene to help determine the cause of the fire.
