(JASPER) - A Huntingburg dentist and his wife who were arrested after police discovered the couple's child was held in a wooden cage containing a mattress and pan for the child to use to go to the restroom when she was kept there overnight is seeking a change of venue.

Police arrested 57-year-old Alan Friz and his wife, 36-year-old Aimee Friz, in October. Alan Friz is a dentist in Huntingburg.

Police found the cage, labeled with the child's name, during a search of the couple's home at 5275 West County Road 700 South.

Friz is charged with four Level 5 felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor; 11 Level 5 felony counts of neglect of a dependent; and 11 Level 6 felony counts of criminal confinement. His wife is charged with the 11 Level 5 felony counts of neglect of a dependant and 11 felony counts of criminal confinement.

The couple appeared in court on Tuesday.

Dubois County Circuit Court Judge Nathan Verkamp set a date to consider a motion for a change of venue.

The attorneys representing the Frizes - Tell City Attorney Michael Hagedorn, is representing Aimee Friz and Jasper Attorney Tim Demotte is representing Alan Friz - as well as the Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Quinn agreed that options for a change of venue needed to be explored. One possibility is to select a jury from another county to hear the case.

The judge scheduled a hearing for March 9 at 1 p.m. to consider the motion for a change of venue.
