Bloomington Police Determine Sunday's Shooting Not Criminal

Last updated on Wednesday, January 10, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police Capt. Steve Kellams says detectives have determined Sunday’s shooting that left a man injured was not criminal.

Residents at an apartment building in the 1800 block of South Walnut Street called 911 at 5:41 p.m. to report that a man had suffered a gunshot wound to his head.

A 24-year-old male was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Capt. Kellams says the man made statements to detectives indicating he had attempted suicide.

Police obtained a search warrant for the man's apartment and seized a small, silver .38-caliber pistol and ammunition.
