(JUDAH) - A Bedford woman was arrested after she crashed a truck into a culvert on Judah Logan Road Wednesday night.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 32-year-old Courtney Haynes of Bedford was traveling north on Judah Logan Road when the 2003 Dodge Ram pickup went off the west side of the road crashing into a culvert.

Haynes complained of head pain. Her passenger, Nathaniel Jones of New Castle, was not injured during the incident.

The officer continued to investigate the accident awaiting emergency crews to check Haynes.

During that time both Haynes and Jones offered to pay the officer money to "make this go away."

They were both promptly arrested for bribery.

Jones was cuffed and placed into a patrol car and Haynes became uncooperative and belligerent and attempted to pull away from the officer.

"On the arrival of EMS Haynes kicked and flailed at the staff while in the ambulance and refused to cooperate with them and be examined before eventually calming down enough to be transported to IU Health," Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults says. "Once at the ER Haynes began yelling and cursing, refused to cooperate with staff trying to treat her and had to be restrained."

At one point during this, Haynes spit on the officer, attempted to spit on the staff and scratched one of the nurses fingers.

She was eventually cleared to leave the hospital and was transported to the the jail where Jones had already been transported by another officer.

She did submit to a drug and alcohol test and was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol of 0.15 percent or greater, bribery, battery on an officer by bodily waste and battery on a police officer and emergency staff.

Jones was also arrested on a charge of bribery.
