(BEDFORD) - The Annual Mardi Gras Sheltherbration benefiting Becky’s Place is going to be March 3rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Shamrock Center.
This will be the 6th year for the annual event that normally occurs in Feburary as a way to commemorate the first month Becky's Place opened. Becky's Place open on Feb. 21 of 2012.
"We are trying to raise money for our general operations. It's a good time for people to come and hear more about Becky's Place. We usually have a guest speaker who is usually a former Resident that has completed our program that comes back and talks about their success story... their experience here at Becky's Place. It's just a good time for people to get together and celebrate a good cause," said Corrina Hayes, Executive Director at Becky's Place.
The event will be fun for the entire family with a silent auction, live entertainment, 50/50 raffle and dinner.
"We had a band last year called the Semple Band. They will also be playing this year. They were on the Voice several years ago. When they played last year for the first time they were absolutely
remarkable," said Hayes. "They were so much fun. The music really hit every age group. We had lots of people that were up and dancing -it was just a lot of fun."
Dinner will be catered by Terri's Catering.
The auction items will be highly sought after according to Hayes.

Currently, Becky's Place is at full capacity.
"This is probably the fullest we've been... ever. - which is another reason it's very important for us to have an event. So we can continue this great thing that were doing. It's one of those bitter sweet things that it's very unfortunate that we have to have a shelter but we're very fortunate to have it to help these ladies," said Hayes.
Becky's Place is a 90 Day Program as well as an emergency shelter. The ladies at Becky's Place receive case management, budgeting, life skills coaching, counseling, help finding a primary doctor and much more.
"We're changing lives every single day."
