(BEDFORD) - 29 people were injured when a Bedford North Lawrence School bus was struck head-on at Fifth and E streets Wednesday at 3:18 p.m.

According to a Bedford Police report, 53-year-old Richard Dickerson was traveling east on Fifth Street in a 2014 Ford F-350. At the same time, a school bus driven by 61-year-old David Lee was traveling west on Fifth Street and dropping off students.

Dickerson told police he couldn't remember anything about the accident, or what happened.

Lee told police the pickup truck driver was traveling at a high-rate of speed, crossed the center line and struck the school bus head-on.

Celine Grinder, a witness to the accident, attempted to help Dickerson at the scene and as she did he attempted to flee. Officers arrived at that time and stopped Dickerson. He was transported from the scene to IU Health Hospital to be physically evaluated after complaining of chest pains and to submit to a blood-draw.

Dickerson; who had an Indiana driver's license but listed his address at Kissimee, Florida; was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content of 0.15 percent or greater, leaving the scene of an injury accident, resisting arrest by force and resisting arrest by fleeing and cited for driving left of center. Other charges are pending.

The passengers in Dickerson's truck, who are not listed on the report, were transported to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.

All the children on the school bus were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
