(GNAW BONE) - Brown County police arrested two teens after they broke into Bear Wallow Distillery.
Brown County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the distillery on Old State Road 46 at 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6 after a report of two suspicious males at the business.
When a deputy arrived he found a vehicle parked in a grassy area across from the parking lot of the distillery and found the glass broke out of the front door and a male in a dark coat standing behind the counter inside the building.
The male, 19-year-old Jamison Durhan, of Harrison Ridge Rd, ran from behind the counter.
Deputy Colton Magner ordered Durhan to stop. As the deputy entered the building he spotted a second male to his right.
The deputy found Durham hiding in the bathroom. The second male escaped. When asked why Durhan was in the building he told the officer he was looking for the his vehicle.
Deputy Magner asked him, "In the building?" and Durham responded, "Yes," the probable cause reads. Durham changed his story several times.
Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht and Nashville Police Officer Keith Lawson were unable to find the second man, 18-year-old Trevor Braden, at a relative's home on Gatesville Road.
The owner of the business located Braden's cell phone in the building and found a hammer that police say Dunham was using to break into the locked cash register.
Police found Dunham's vehicle parked along Old State Road 46. Inside police found several alcoholic containers with the distilleries name on them and two frozen pizzas on the back seat.
Braden told police he and Durham went to get pizzas from a gas station in town and afterward, Durham drove to the distillery to break in. He said Durham broke the door. Braden admitted to police that he went into the building and had given his cellphone to Durham to use as a light.
Braden admitted to police he also took a box of alcohol out to the car. He said he began feeling uneasy and left. He ran into the woods and stayed there when the deputy arrived on the scene, then walked to the Circle K where he had a relative pick him up.
On Dec. 7, Braden was charged with burglary and theft. Durham was charged with burglary, resisting law enforcement, theft, criminal mischief, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He pleaded not guilty to the crimes and was appointed Attorney Courtney Allen to represent him. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Dec. 28th at 9 a.m. for a pretrial conference. He remains in jail.
Durham has pleaded not guilty to the charges and will appear again in court on Dec. 28th at 9 a.m. for a pretrial conference. He was appointed attorney Jacob Moore to represent him. Judge Judith Stewart suspended Durham's license for six months. Durham posted a $500 cash bond Tuesday and has been released from jail.
