Stolen Vehicle Recovered, Suspect Still At Large

(BEDFORD) - Bedford police recovered a stolen vehicle after the driver crashed into a utility pole in the 1550 block of Breckenridge Road on Thursday night.

Officers were called to the scene just after 10 p.m. to find a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup which had been reported stolen just minutes earlier. The owner of the truck is Austin Ester of Bedford.

Police says the suspect was traveling north on Breckenridge Road from the area of Mason Street when the truck began to skid in front of 1550 Breckenridge Road. The truck left the roadway in the curve and struck a Duke Energy pole in the yard of 1554 Breckenridge Road.

The homeowner Marshall Key told police he heard the crash and saw a male flee north from the truck. Police were unable to located the male.

The case remains under investigation.
