Scholarship applicants will be enrolled in such major courses of study as agronomy, biology, soil science, wildlife management, forestry, geography, and environmental management. Other courses of study related to conservation may also qualify. Previous recipients are not eligible for a second Hoosier Chapter Scholarship.

Hobson, during the summer of 2016, was a student intern in the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation Service office. After serving her internship, Hobson returned to Purdue University to continue studying agronomy. In the summer of 2017, Hobson was selected as a student trainee with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service for the summer.
